Hello Friend!

If you are reading this, I’m going to assume that you have a full schedule and you take your success and wellness seriously.

I love Jordan Raynor’s advice when he says, “In order to do more, most of us need to do less and rest more.”

When you start to work for 4 hours straight and sometimes forget to take a break, eat lunch or go to the bathroom, you burnout and end up with health issues.

You want to focus on doing workouts vs sprints at your desk.

This means taking time to get away from the laptop, focus on something far from the screen and looking outside to rest from eye strain, prevent headaches, as well as neck and back tensions.

Then you can come back and get in the zone again. Below are a few tips that have worked for me and my community.

    1. Pomodoro + Deep Work Technique.

The video in the link above helps you do focused work from rest.

It is like working out at the gym where you do physical work and then rest in between reps.

“Human beings are not designed to run like computers- at high speeds continuously for long periods of time….We’re designed to pulse.” Tony Schwartz, CEO of the Energy Project.

Know your cycle and your circadian rhythm and incorporate Deep Work and the Pomodoro Technique together.

Practice, practice, practice and you will be doing your greatest work for your soul and the world!

  1. Nightly Sleep

The World Health Organization now labels our collective lack of sleep an “emerging global epidemic.”

Dr. Matthew Walker summarized in his bestselling book Why We Sleep research linking sleep to our productivity stating: a failure to get adequate sleep is worse for your performance than an equivalent absence of food or exercise or showing up to work drunk.

Lack of sleep is bad for our health and can lead to depression, anxiety, lowered immune system and more.

Benefits of Sleep:

  • Better concentration
  • Helps perfect skills
  • Earn more income

How to get for 7-8 hours sleep per night:

  • Set a bedtime
  • Spend last hour before bed to relax the body (stretches, yoga, meditation, book)
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol past 3pm
  • Make bedroom dark and cold (69 degrees) as possible
  • Avoid screen time before bed & leave cell phone outside of bedroom
  • Add 3 drops of your favorite calming essential oils to diffuser and turn on for deep sleep
  • Establish regular sleep cycles and make it an atomic habit

Working from sleep can help you be refreshed and ready to be focused and productive.

  1. Getting Outdoors and Rest from The Noise

Benefits of getting outdoors:

  • Resets the circadian rhythm
  • The sun elevates Vitamin D levels
  • May lower blood pressure
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Good for eyesight
  • Improves Sleep
  • Burns more calories
  • Gets you away from the laptop lifestyle
  • Allows you to take deeper breaths
  • Movement outdoors helps digest food in your gut
  • Relieves stress, anxiety and depression
  • Nature is healing
  • Boosts immunity
  • Generates creativity

Add time on your calendar to get outdoors in solitude or with the ones you hold sacred. You’ll come back feeling healthier and with more energy to rock on!

4. Eliminate Hurry and Slow Down

The #1 Problem people face via John Mark Comer and a respected PhD Clinical Psychologist is that: Most people are just too busy to have a spiritual, emotional, vibrant lives. People don’t have the time.

This is such a great video of why we should eliminate hurry in our lives.
